Camera access is unavailable

Open Settings → Apps → 2AM → Camera, turn it on, then reopen 2AM.

Photos aren't showing up in Apple Photos

Open Settings → Apps → 2AM → Photos and allow 2AM to add photos. Every photo is also kept in 2AM's own roll either way.

Taking Photos

How do I take a photo?

Touch anywhere on the viewfinder. At night the photo is taken the instant your finger lands, with no long, bright autofocus cycle first.

2AM and 2PM

2AM is the night camera: direct flash, exposure set for the dark. 2PM is the daylight camera: no flash, automatic exposure. 2AM switches between them on its own using the time of day and the light; tap 2AM / 2PM in the top corner to choose yourself. In 2PM, slide your finger on the viewfinder to make the photo brighter or darker.

Focus and distance

On iPhones with LiDAR, 2AM measures how far away your subject is and sets focus and the flash exposure for that distance automatically, from about a foot away to a group across the room.

Open 2AM from the camera button or Lock Screen

Camera Control (iPhone 16 and later): Settings → Camera → Camera Control → Launch Camera → 2AM.
Action Button: Settings → Action Button → Controls → 2AM.
Lock Screen or Control Center: add the 2AM control.
If your iPhone is locked, it asks for Face ID, then opens straight to the viewfinder.

Where are my photos?

Tap the thumbnail in the bottom corner of the viewfinder. MAIN is everything you've shot, SHARED is your shared albums, and the heart shows your favorites.

Select, share and delete

Tap SELECT, then tap photos or drag across them to select several. Share the developed photo or the original RAW (DNG). Deleting removes the photo from 2AM and from Cloud Backup; copies already saved to Apple Photos stay there.

Editing

Open a photo and tap EDIT to adjust exposure, contrast and white balance. Edits are made from the original RAW, so nothing is lost, and you can go back to the original at any time.

Shared Albums

Start an album

Tap the album button in the bottom corner of the viewfinder, then START THE ALBUM. Friends tap the same button and choose JOIN WITH QR CODE, or open the link you send them. Everyone's photos land in everyone's roll.

How long does it last?

Sharing ends at sunrise. Photos taken during the night still arrive afterwards, even if a phone was offline or out of battery. Shared album photos are end-to-end encrypted.

Cloud Backup

What is it?

An optional subscription that backs up your RAW photos, with a 7-day free trial. Sign in with Apple, then choose a plan in the roll's Settings → Cloud Backup.

Free up space

Set MAX ON-DEVICE STORAGE and 2AM keeps your newest photos on your phone and moves older originals to the cloud. Every photo keeps a full-resolution preview on your phone; tap EDIT and the original comes back for editing. Nothing leaves your phone until the cloud has confirmed an exact copy.

Is it private?

Backups are encrypted on your phone before they're uploaded, with a key kept in your iCloud Keychain, so they can only be opened on your devices.

Changing or cancelling a plan

Change plans in Settings → Cloud Backup, or manage and cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If a plan ends, your backups stay available to download for 30 days.

New phone

Sign in to Cloud Backup with the same Apple Account. If your iCloud Keychain isn't available on the new phone, tap ASK FOR RECOVERY and email support.

Troubleshooting

A photo is too dark or too bright

Make sure you're in the right mode: 2AM at night, 2PM in daylight. In 2PM, slide on the viewfinder to adjust brightness. In the editor, EXPOSURE adjusts it after the fact.

The flash or camera stops working

Let your iPhone cool down, close other camera apps and reopen 2AM. iOS can switch off the flash when the phone is hot.

Before contacting support

1. Update to the latest version of 2AM and iOS.
2. Quit and reopen the app.
3. Restart your iPhone if it still happens.

LAB Cam Pro

One cloud plan for both apps

2AM and LAB share Cloud Backup. Sign in with the same Apple Account in both and they use the same account, the same plan and the same backup. A plan bought in one app shows in the other as managed there.

Restore purchases

On a new device, or if a plan doesn't show, open LAB's cloud settings and tap RESTORE PURCHASES. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you bought the plan with.

Importing RAW photos

Tap IMPORT in LAB to bring in RAW (DNG) files from Photos or Files and develop them with the same film look and editor as 2AM.

Privacy

Photos are developed on your device. Shared albums and Cloud Backup are encrypted on your phone before anything is uploaded. Read the full Privacy Policy.
